Giving talent a chance

Milos – Billboard’s Top Selling Artist holds an exclusive AYM concert

Very few people get the rare opportunity to see Miloš Karadaglić in concert, in such an intimate setting, at this terrific indy social enterprise venue in the heart of east London.

Well, this was one extraordinary “not to be missed” date, on Friday 10th October, at the Shoreditch Village Hall.

Miloš, an AYM patron, is now “probably the biggest classical-guitar phenomenon since John Williams in the 1960s and Julian Bream a decade before.”**  Miloš performed live and shared some vivid anecdotes, to raise funds exclusively for AYM in support of our Ambition 1000 campaign. His new album Aranjuez dominated the Billboard Classical Music chart during the summer, taking the number one spot for three consecutive weeks.  Our audience heard some of his favourite pieces and unique insights, in a charming and personal conversation with BBC’s Zeb Soanes, another of AYM’s patrons.

Also joining Miloš on stage at Shoreditch Village Hall was rising talent, Haydn Bateman, an AYM alumnus, who is currently studying at the Royal College of Music. As an example of our virtuous circle of #givingtalentachance, several of AYM’s young Award winners also attended the event as volunteers, giving their time to meet guests and help us achieve our aims of supporting more and more exceptional musicians who will follow in their footsteps.

Ambition 1000

Miloš: “It’s vital that we don’t let talented young musicians fall by the wayside simply because of economics. Music is so fundamentally important to our society and our culture. The work Awards for Young Musicians is doing to make sure new generations of musicians flourish is crucial: without it we may miss out on some truly amazing music.

Miloš, the young classical guitarist from Montenegro, has joined the Ambition 1000 campaign to help AYM in our aim of supporting and bringing musical opportunities to 1,000 young people by 2017.  To find out more about how you can join Ambition 1000 follow the link here.
