Giving talent a chance

Hull to Hoxton – Haydn joins Milos

Miloš Karadaglić was delighted to invite AYM’s Haydn to join him in concert after being impressed with the young musician’s playing during a recent masterclass.

Haydn Bateman is one happy young musician, who was absolutely thrilled to join Milos for an evening of music. Earlier this summer, Haydn, who originally hails from Hull, was just about to go away to Germany for a week’s intensive course; he was surprised by a phone call from AYM, the night before he was due to leave, asking him if he would be willing to join Milos to take part in a masterclass and, also, to explore the possibility of joining him for an evening of live music and conversation. It was seamless as Haydn had just moved to Shoreditch just a few days before and the gig took place a few minutes from his flat, in his new neighbourhood. AYM managed to arrange the special masterclass for when Haydn returned from Germany; afterwards he said. “Miloš really gave me a taste of what it’s like to be a professional musician; his attitude and professionalism is something that has inspired me.”

Haydn, who has been supported by AYM with a top Award to help towards the purchase of his guitar, reflected on how, without this specific intervention, he would not have been able to achieve the level of musicianship he continues to aspires to. With his new guitar, he was able to secure a place at the Royal College of Music, where he is thriving and just about to go into his second year.

Our audience was able to hear exquisite music, sparkling conversation and seized the rare opportunity to be part of one of the most intimate of concerts of the season.
