This new Award, made for the first time in 2014, goes to the best young guitarist of the year.

Des Simmons, who died suddenly in 2013, was an exceptional musician as well as an enthusiastic supporter of young musicians. This Award was initiated by Des’s partner, Sinead Hall, and his daughter Maisie, with the help of fantastic fundraising from his many friends.
