Innovation & Research

We use our independent role in music education to take a lead in thinking and action on talent development. The young people we help are constantly striving to be excellent musicians: we support each of their musical journeys, so that these are as good as they can possibly be. We constantly refine and develop the way that we work, carefully evaluating what we do, exploring new approaches and working collaboratively with our many colleagues throughout music education.

For example in 2009, we worked with the Department for Education and Music Mark (The UK Association for Music Education) to co-commission the evaluation of the impact of Wider Opportunities; these findings have not only influenced the development of our Furthering Talent programme but also led to our role in convening, raising funding for and co-hosting the three series of Musical Progressions Roundtables (MPR).
