Giving talent a chance

Brillante March Evening Recital

Louisa violinAYM Awardees love to perform!  AYM is delighted that one of the benefits we provide throughout the year are Recitals where our talented young musicians are thrilled to play for a variety of different audiences. In March, forty of our supporters enjoyed stunning performances in the beautiful and unusual home of our Chairman, Philip Jones. The evening commenced with Louisa (14) playing the first movement of the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. From the first few notes our listeners were captivated by her technical brilliance and mature interpretation.

Callum (14) then played a selection of the Brouwer Etudes for Guitar. Music is all about performing for Callum and he has found that charity fundraising events are one way of reaching an audience. He also competes in local festivals and is considering whether he should attend a junior conservatoire in order to give him contact with other musicians playing at his level.

Sawa (15) is one of our regular performers, whom we have been supporting since 2010. She played one of the most difficult Chopin Ballades, #3 in Ab major with ease and also a maturity that belies her age. Sawa took up the piano when she was just 7 and in less than 5 years she passed Grade 8, for which she achieved a Gold Award. She studies the piano at the Junior Royal Academy of Music and loves the opportunity to play chamber music in various ensembles.
